A William IV sterling silver bachelor teapot, London 1834 by Edward, Edward junior, John & William Barnard

Of circular rounded form raised upon four anthemion and foliate scroll bracket feet. The fluted curved spout opposite a C scroll handle with leaf calyx junction, fitted with ivory insulators. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a detachable flower and leaf finial. Fully marked underneath, the lid, finial and handle part-marked. Also stamped with numerals 587 underneath and scratched “Miss Brooke”.

Length –26 cm / 10.25 inches

Weight – 631 grams / 20.29 ozt

The Miss Brooke underneath is likely to be for Emma Maria Brooke (1849-1922) only daughter of Charles Brooke FRS (1804-1879) noted surgeon and inventor, also president of the Royal Meteorological Society between 1865–1866. He was the son of mineralogist Henry James Brooke (1771–1857). (Thence by descent)
