A Victorian sterling silver salver, Sheffield 1878 by Roberts and Belk
Of circular form with slat pierced cavetto edge, with a bold beaded rim, all raised on three ball and claw feet. The field with an engraved Greek key border with a central circular cartouche with scrolling arabesques, with presentation inscription “Presented to Mr William Featherstone by the officers of the York Post Office on his appointment to the postmastership of Devonport, Sep 1881”. Fully marked to front.
