Orbis Terrae Compendiosa Descriptio, double-hemisphere map of the world from ‘Universus Terrarum Orbis Scriptorum’, based on Mercator’s monumental map from 1587, first appeared in Rosaccio’s 1598 edition of Ptolemy’s ‘Geographia’; includes a large southern continent, no Korean peninsula, Japan and several mythical islands in the North Atlantic, with ‘T.2. pag. 284’ printed at the top right, copper engraved and uncoloured, 175 x 255mm, central vertical fold, 1 small spot, [Shirley 217], [Padua?], 1713.
