*** Composed from sketches made 1833-1834, this is plate no. 20 from the atlas that accompanied Prince Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied’s ‘Travels in the Interior of North America’. Sih-Chidä (`Yellow Feather’) and Mahchsi-Karehde (`Flying War Eagle’) were warriors who took a keen interest in the artist’s work.
