*** Composed from sketches made 1833-1834, this is plate no. 17 from the atlas that accompanied Prince Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied’s ‘Travels in the Interior of North America’. A frequent visitor to the Prince’s quarters at Fort Clark, Pehriska-Ruhpa was particularly proud of his beautiful clothing.
