A JAPANESE SILVER AND GOLD LACQUER SHIBAYAMA KORO.

Meiji period.

A globular body supported on tripod feet, inset with three gold lacquer panels, each enclosing the ‘Bird and flower’ motif including a hanging flower basket, crows and the moon against a cherry tree, inlaid in mother-of-pearl, coloured horn and ivory, the feet and shoulders decorated with stylised chrysanthemums in multi-coloured enamels, the cover surmounted with a standing partridge, 18cm H.
