AN ANTIQUE HAJI-JALILI RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA approx: 5ft.11in. x 4ft.3in.(180cm. x 130cm.) The shaded indigo field with large central ivory floral medallion with pendants, containing radiating double floral centrepiece. Ivory liked spandrels similar. In an indigo border of polychrome palmettes, rosettes and hooked leaves together with delicate floral tendrils. All between flowering vine, barber-pole and plain stripes. this rug has fine quality wool, soft and lustrous. Very good colour combination and bold appearance. Apart of slight wear to the top pile, barely visible. This rug has full pile and is in vey good condition. Original cotton selvages. Ends with short fringes, secured. Fine weave, approx: 6 x 6 knots per sq. cm; Very good example for this type. Attractive. ca.1900
