A FINE PAIR OF MEISSEN TOPOGRAPHICAL FLOWER-ENCRUSTED FIGURAL VASES AND COVERS, mid-late 19th century, of double-ogee form, the twin stalk handles encrusted with a variety of brightly coloured flowers and fruit, the moulded foot applied with a kneeling putto holding bouquets of flowers in both hands, a winged putto to the side, one finely painted to the front with a landscape vignette depicting a busy riverside scene, a bridge and city in the background, the other with ladies walking past country residences in a wooded landscape, formal gardens in the distance, the reverse with a spray of flowers, the reticulated covers with elaborate flower-encrusted finials, 43cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, one with incised model no. 2707 (4) FOOTNOTES: A similar pair of vases was sold at Christie's New York, 13 April 2017, lot 183.
