EXCEPTIONALLY FINELY BOUND IN LATER ‘COSWAY’ STYLE GREEN CRUSHED MOROCCO GILT by Bayntun-Riviere, with a fine oval original watercolour portrait of Ranjitsinhji inset to the upper cover, the covers with double gilt ruled fillets and three cricket balls stamped in each of the corners, spine gilt in six compartments with cricketing motifs of crossed bats and wickets in four of them, the title and author’s name in the other two, dentelles, watered silk liners, gilt edges, modern green cloth box. FIRST EDITION. NUMBER 51 OF 350 COPIES OF THE DE-LUXE EDITION ON HAND-MADE PAPER SIGNED BY RANJITSINHJI, THIS COPY SPECIALLY-BOUND. Its trimmings have all the signs of the immense opulence Ranji was known for.
