POWELL, Anthony (1905-2000) – a part-set of the A Dance to the Music of Time sequence, with some duplicates, comprising: At Lady Molly’s (London, 1957, 2 copies), Casanova’s Chinese Restaurant (ibid., 1960), The Valley of Bones (1964), The Soldier’s Art (1966), The Military Philosophers (1968, 2 copies), Books do Furnish a Room (1971, 3 copies), Temporary Kings (1973, 2 copies) and Hearing Secret Harmonies (1975, 2 copies), all FIRST EDITIONS IN DUST-JACKETS, most fine copies. The first three titles of the sequence, published between 1951 and 1955, are lacking. With the same author’s The Fisher King (London, 1986) and Journals 1990-1992 (London, 1997), both FIRST EDITIONS in dust-jackets. "The Dance is not only one of the great literary feats of all time, but also one of the most enjoyable. Whenever I drive down the A46 past Nottingham, I see Widmerpool on the signposts which is presumably where the author found the name" (H.B.). (16)
