Original green cloth, spine gilt, map printed in green and white on the endpapers, dust-jacket with price of 9s.6d unclipped (cloth with some fading to edges, jacket torn with slight loss to head and foot of backstrip, a few chips and some minor creasing to edges). FIRST EDITION of the author’s only work of fiction. On the half title someone has written in blue pencil “1/25”, the significance of which is unclear. "Paddy L-F's travel writing is a delight and so too, is his only work of fiction,'The Violins of Saint Jacques'. Like Willie Somerset Maugham and David Gower, an alumni of King's School, Canterbury. PL-F took himself a mite too seriously" (H.B.).
