The Australians in England. 1896. London: “Published at the ‘Athletic News’ Office,” [1896]. 12mo. Half tone plate of the Australian team (lightly browned, final leaf torn touching letters). Original yellow pictorial wrappers, with wood-engraved portrait of G. H. S. Trott on the upper wrapper, advertisements on other wrappers (stained and creased, short tear to upper wrapper without loss, nick to lower wrapper). RARE. The text consists principally of “An Australian Opinion of the Tour. [By George Bull, of the Australian Press.]” and “A Few Jottings on the Tour. [By J. J. B.]”. The diverting advertisements include one for the 'Everton Football Turnstile' aimed at 'Directors and Managers of Racecourses, Football and Cricket Clubs.' "Bought at a second-hand bookshop in Melbourne during Mike Brearley's 1979/80 tour of Australia" (H.B.).
