COWARD, Noel (1899-1973).  A Withered Nosegay. London: Christophers, 1922. 8vo. Half title, 10 full-page wood-engraved illustrations by Lorn MacNaughtan “from Old Masters”. Original yellow buckram lettered in black (without the dust-jacket, some very light staining, spine a little discoloured). PRESENTATION COPY of one of the author’s earliest published works, the half title inscribed, “For John McFadden, Noel Coward.” Although printed in the same year as the first edition, the present copy is bound in yellow buckram, whereas other copies of the first edition are recorded in black bindings. With 10 other books by the same author including Terribly Intimate Portraits (New York, 1922) and Future Indefinite (London, 1954, with the author’s clipped signature laid down on front pastedown). "I met Noel Coward at a lunch party given in Jamaica at Goldeneye by Ian Fleming" (H.B.). (11)
