Lot 154

[?TOPOLSKI, Feliks (1907-89), attributed].  A pen-and-ink study of Luciano Pavarotti, with a pencil sketch of the White Cliffs of Dover on the verso, 292 x 210mm., framed and glazed; with another pen-and-ink study by the same artist incorporating 4 portraits of the same singer, 292 x 210mm., framed and glazed. It has been suggested that the artist of these skilful studies may be Milein Cosman (b. 1921) who specialised in musical and operatic subjects. "Lovely drawings of Pavarotti, no matter whether by Topolski or Cosman. A wonderful reminder of Pavarotti and his genius. You can almost feel Nessun Dorma coming on!" (H.B.). (2)
