MAILEY, Arthur (1886-1967). “Australia’s Greatest Batsman ... Drawn by Arthur Mailey.” A colour printed full-length portrait of Don Bradman, with facsimile signature to the left, and inscribed, “To Humphrey, Arthur Mailey, Esq.” (some browning and staining), 270 x 165mm., framed and glazed, [n.d.]. "I don't think Don Bradman was Mailey's sort of chap with the result that he drew few cartoons of the great man. This one shows the austere man that Bradman was. He was not naturally funny and too introspective for Mailey who preferred his cricketers and friends to be outgoing and cheerful" (H.B.).
