GRACE, W. G. (1848-1915).  “Banquet held on Monday, June 24th, 1895, at the Victoria Rooms, Clifton, to Mr W. G. Grace in celebration of his ‘One Hundredth Century’. Completed on Gloucestershire County Ground, on Friday May 17th, 1895. His Grace the Duke of Beaufort, K.G.; President.” A printed menu in 3 sections with Toast List, Wine List, Menu and a wood-engraved illustration after H. Werdmuller of W. G. Grace standing with a bat at a wicket; the verso with the title in the centre printed in blue, orange and brown, including a view of the match (some spotting and a few repairs with loss of a few letters), 160 x 338mm., framed and glazed on both sides. "They did things properly in those days! What a dinner it must have been. I would have loved to have sat between WG and the Duke of Beaufort. I wonder what we would have talked about!" (H.B.).
