GRACE, W. G. (1848-1915).  A Vulcanite pipe in the form of a cricket bat with the head modelled on W. G. Grace, a cricket ball beneath, the bat stamped on its right edge “W. G. G. AEt. 47.A.D.1895” and on its left edge “CENTUPLICO”; the verso stamped “MADE ABROAD”, the length 400mm., 1895. The pipe is very rarely found with the cricket ball still attached. Provenance: from the Collection of Edward Mills Grace (1841-1911), older brother of W. G. Grace. "Yet another irresistible piece of Graciana" (H.B.).
