Chiswick Auctions

Old Master Paintings & Drawings

Chiswick Auctions’ dedicated sales of Old Master Paintings and Drawings offer a specialised platform for presenting quality British and European paintings and works on paper from the early Renaissance to the end of the 18th century. Auctions are held three times a year, in the spring, summer and autumn.

As well as single consignments, of portraiture, still life, genre, history painting, biblical and mythological subjects, we often feature collections in our sales. The Old Masters Department combines their excellent expertise with a personal and approachable service that sees the sales attract collectors, dealers, agents and institutions from around the world.

Our Old Master sales in March and June proved extremely popular with collectors and dealers alike. Successes in our 25th June auction ranged from the sale of An imaginary view of the interior of Antwerp cathedral from the Circle of Hendrick Van Steenwijck the Elder which sold for £30,000 to a Belgian collector (est. £6,000-8,000) to a portrait of Diogenes in the Manner of Jacob Jordaens that sold for £18,250 (est. £1,500-2,500) purchased by an Italian buyer.
