Fine Chinese Paintings
Chiswick Auctions is the leading auction house for the sale of Fine Chinese Paintings and is the only saleroom in the UK to hold dedicated sales in this category. The biannual sales are held in May and November with both sales this year achieving phenomenal results in this category. A rare handscroll by internationally recognised artist, Xu Naigu – recipient of the prestigious Asian Art in London 2017 Commendment Award – realised £267,600 in November. A landscape painting by Huang Binhong (total sales £51,250) and a hanging scroll by Huang Daozhou (total sales £52,500) were amongst the many highlights that performed well in the sale.
The inaugural May sale featured the sale of ten Classical paintings from a London private collection, which totalled over £65,000, and were sold alongside works by celebrated artists including Qi Baishi, Ding Yanyong, Huang Zhou and Lo Ch’ing in addition to Modern Chinese Paintings. Other recent successes in the field of Chinese paintings include the sale of the Buckman Collection (total sales £55,000), the Aldrick Collection (total sales £31,000) and Pearson Collection (total sales £24,156) all of which had a 100% sell-through rate.
The next specialist auction will take place on the 15th May 2018. Entries are now invited.
