A late 19th century / early 20th century Austrian unmarked silver gilt and gem-set casket, Vienna circa 1900

Of baluster rectangular form with canted corners, the lower section with half-fluting, lid and sides decorated with filigree panels and polychrome painted champlevé enamel of foliate scrolls interspersed with near-round cultured pearls, collet-set circular-cut synthetic rubies and step-cut foiled back emeralds (untested), centred with a navette shaped cluster of similar gems. The hinged lid opening to reveal a velvet lined interior.
