A MEISSEN HAUSMALER TEABOWL AND SAUCER, circa 1725, decorated in Dresden or Augsburg, both moulded with acanthus leaves, the teabowl decorated with a gilt wide Laub- und Bandelwerk border, the top of the saucer and interior of the teabowl gilt, the saucer 12cm diameter, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, the teabowl with impressed Dreher's mark of three circles for Gottfried Seydel and ** to saucer for Christian Meynert (2) PROVENANCE: Private German collection. FOOTNOTES: It is likely that the gilt decoration on this piece was by the goldsmith George Funcke (master in 1692), who painted in gold for the Meissen factory until 1726. The acanthus moulding may have been designed by the court silversmith Johann Jacob Irminger.
