A PERSIAN ENGRAVED SILVER AND AN IRAQI SILVER AND NIELLO FOUR-PIECE CRUET SET
Tabriz, Iran, circa 1960s and Omara, Iraq, circa 1930 - 1950

Comprising a set of hexagonal salt and pepper shakers, engraved on each side with reliefs reminiscent of Persian rock carvings and ancient ruins at Persepolis, stamped '84' on each base, each 4.3cm high; and two further salt shakers, one with a hexagonal base, the other a regular cylinder, both surmounted by two pierced tower-like lids, each side featuring typical Iraqi nielloed decoration including river vessels, desert vegetation and animals, and renowned architectural landmarks like Taq Kasra (Ruins of Ctesiphon), the tallest 8.5cm high.
