A PAIR OF CHINESE FAMILLE-ROSE 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' VASES AND COVERS

清十九世紀 粉彩龍鳳呈祥圖紋瓶將軍罐一對

《大清康熙年製》款

Each of baluster form, painted to the exterior with quatrefoil panels enclosing dragons and phoenixes encircling flaming pearls, alternating with oval-shaped panels depicting flower baskets overflowing with blossoms, all reserved against a dense pattern of small white flowers, auspicious emblems wrapped with ribbon and large flowering peony and chrysanthemum flowerheads, all on a ruby ground above a band of petal lappets, each shoulder painted with a pendent frieze of ruyi-shaped lappets decorated with cash symbols, peonies and lotus flowers, the wide, cylindrical necks with foliate sprays above bands of diaper pattern and cartouches enclosing blossoms, the covers similarly-decorated to the bodies, each vase with an apocryphal six-character Kangxi mark in underglaze-blue to the base,
