A PAIR OF IRANIAN STAINED GLASS WINDOW SHUTTERS IN WOODEN FRAMES
Iran, the glass 1940s – 1960s, the wooden frame late 20th century

Each shutter of typical rectangular shape, the centre decorated with an elaborate wooden openwork grid in the shape of a rectangular niche with lobed arch at the top filled with stained glass segments painted in reverse with blossomed rose stems, surrounded by a band of squares filled with roundels, each geometric shape filled with stained glass sheets in a variety of colours including blue, red, yellow and green, creating a kaleidoscopic effect, the outer wooden frame varnished and retaining the original colour on the outside and painted in light blue on the inside, the lower outer border fitted with two old steel handles, each panel 168cm x 97cm x 3cm.
