A George III sterling silver tea urn, London 1765 by Daniel Smith and Robert Sharp

of ovoid form raised upon a pierced square base with four claw feet, with a gadrooned edge. The body with twin shell and rocaille handles with foliate junctions. The tap with a leaf calyx junction terminating in a dolphin spout, with turned ivory spigot. The detachable high waisted and domed lid surmounted by a wrythen finial. The body later engraved with initials N.T.P in Gothic script. Fully marked to interior section for iron heating element and to bezel of base, makers mark and lion passant only to lid.

Height – 46 cm / 18 inches

Weight – 2015 grams / 64.78 ozt

This makers mark would have been in the lost 1758-1773 Largeworkers' Register, but at least from 1763
