A pair of George II sterling silver sauce boats, London 1759 by William Skeen (first reg. 4th Dec 1755)

Each of oval bellied form with a gadrooned rim raised upon three shaped shield form feet with ribbed scroll legs leading to a scalloped junction. The fly-over triple C scroll handle with shaped ribbed capping and leaf decoration. Each side engraved with a coat of arms with another on an escutcheon of pretence within an asymmetrical C scroll cartouche flanked by foliage. Each fully marked underneath. (2)

Length – 22.2 cm / 8.75 inches

Weight – 1076 grams / 34.59 ozt

The arms are for Drake, Davith, Longford, or Tilly, with possibly the same on an escutcheon of pretence suggesting a marriage between cousins with she being an heiress.
