A Victorian sterling silver abercorn pattern bachelor teapot, London 1849 by Robert Garrard II (reg. 16th April 1818)
Of baluster form, with panelled decoration of flat chased and punch work of lattices and rosettes. The hinged domed lid surmounted by detachable wooded fluted knop finial, wooden C scroll handle. An oval cartouche to one side engraved with a crest of issuing from a ducal coronet a lion’s head per pale crenellée Arg and Gu. Fully marked underneath, part-marked to lid, lion passant to retaining nut and finial thread, also stamped underneath “Garrards Panton Street LONDON”.
