A George III sterling silver coffee biggin or pot, London 1809 by Robert (I) and Samuel Hennell (reg. 28th Oct 1802)
Of baluster form with a gadrooned rim, upon a simple circular foot with incised band. The spout with cast and applied stylised leaves, opposite a wooden angular handle with scroll upper junction. The domed hinged lid surmounted by a circular turned ivory finial. The side engraved with a crest of a griffin’s head couped with a tag in its’ mouth, wings expanded behind. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to lid.
