A George III sterling silver travelling inkwell, London 1814 by John Douglas (reg. 31st Jan 1804)

Of square form with moulded edges, the screw fitted cap with hinged wing. Cap engraved with a crest of a mortar-piece casting out a bomb with flames, chained and with the initials below SDF in gothic script. Fully marked to the side, the cap and top section part-marked, the hinged wing with lion passant only.

Length – 5.3 cm / 2 inches Weight – 98 grams / 3.15 ozt

The crest is for Fleming, as borne by the Lords of Slane, Baron in the Peerage of Ireland.
