The rounded sides rising from a flat base to a slightly-waisted rim, the exterior decorated with a basket-weave pattern, all covered in a pale blue glaze that stops short of the rim,

c.f. A related bowl from the Baoyizhai Collection was offered at Sothebys Hong Kong, 27th May 2014, lot 618.

A similar bowl with basket-weave decoration to the exterior was recovered from a tomb dated to 1127AD in Wuyuan county, Jiangxi province, as detailed in Peng, Shifan ed., 'Dated Qingbai Wares of the Song and Yuan dynasties', Ching Leng Foundation, Hong Kong, 1998, no. 40, p.57.

Another deep bowl of similar form, this one with remains of metal on the rims, was excavated in 1964 from a Southern Song tomb in Hubei province, now housed in the collection of the Hubei Museum and illustrated in Zhang, Bo ed., 'Zhongguo Chutu Ciqi Quanji. (Complete Collection of Ceramic Art Unearthed in China), Vol. 13 – Hubei & Hunan', The Science Publisher, Beijing, 2008, no. 84, p. 84.
