A MATCHING PAIR OF PORTRAIT DAGUERREOTYPES OF A YOUNG GENTLEMAN, c.1847-51. Sixth plates, one example a richly toned monochromatic plate and the other with light hand colouring, taken during the same sitting in near identical poses, with plain arched top brass mats, housed in red morroco, side hinged cases with double brass hinges, Gilt embossed lid reading: Claudet's Daguerreotype 18 King William St. Strand & Colosseum, both examples cleaned and resealed, and with one annotated in pencil identifying the sitter verso of plate, both with manuscript labels reiterating the sitter as J.C Haynes.
