A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE CANTON ENAMEL ‘EUROPEAN SUBJECT’ RECTANGULAR TRAY. Qing Dynasty, 18th Century. Finely painted with an elegant European gentleman seated on a blanket beneath a gnarled tree and three men standing to his side, a small putto kneeling to the centre, two servants carrying covered food trays to the left, the rim with a lavish border of diaper patterns and panels of flower heads, the reverse with a yellow and a blue dragon engaged in a fight among swirling waves, the reverse of the rim with a green cracked ice band and red flower heads, 30.5 x 22.5cm.
