An Edwardian sterling silver four-piece tea and coffee service, London 1904/09 by messrs Barnard
Comprising a teapot, a coffee pot or hot water pot (1909), a milk ug and a twin handled sugar bowl. Each in the George IV style, of compressed circular form raised upon four husk shell and acanthus leaf bracket feet. The everted rims with roses, rocaille, and foliate scrolls. Each with half-fluted and pellet decoration to the bodies. The teapot with a curved spout opposite an acanthus capped C scroll handle fitted with ivory insulators pinned to scroll junctions, a hinged domed lid similarly decorated to body surmounted by a detachable fluted knop finial. The coffee pot with a hinged lid of conforming shape, surmounted by the same finial, an acanthus capped C scroll handle fitted with ivory insulators pinned to scroll junctions. The milk and sugar with acanthus moulded C scroll handles. Each fully and part-marked. (4)
