A George I Britannia standard silver tablespoon, London 1721 by William Scarlett, additionally struck for Thomas Pierce

Hanoverian pattern, rat tail heel, virginal erased. Engraved with an initial S below the heel. Together with a George I sterling standard tablespoon, London 1723 by William Scarlett also struck for Thomas Pierce, the terminal scratch engraved with contemporaneous ligatured initials MH in Roman script. Each fully marked. (2)

Length – 20.5 cm / 8.1 inches

Weight – 114 grams / 3.67 ozt

The P mark is generally believed to be that of Thomas Pierce while apprenticed to William Scarlett, he registered this mark on his own on the 24th Feb 1730 (Grimwade 2116).
