AN OVAL WORCESTER PORCELAIN CHESTNUT BOWL WITH PIERCED COVER AND STAND, 1772, the cover is pierced with flowered handles, the sides have moulded florets and with handles in the form of flower sprays, the centre of the stand is painted with a group of fruit including plums, a pear and redcurrants, the florets painted in pale blue, marked for 1772. The decoration painted in the workshops of James Giles of London.

16cm high x 25cm wide x 21.5cm deep

Provenance: From a collection of furniture and antiques left to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB ) in 1939 by Evelyn Stannus of Kensington. Items in the collection are believed to have come from Ireland. Since 1939 many objects from the collection have been on loan to the National Trust and this item has been displayed at Montacute House.
