An Elizabeth II modernist sterling silver covered dish or ash tray, Sheffield 1957 by Herbert Thorpe (reg. 2nd Jan 1952)

Of ‘space age’ dished form upon three short cylindrical feet. The pull off domed lid surmounted by a tall tapering cylindrical wooden finials with an applied circular silver boss chased with initials BL ligatured. Full marked underneath, makers mark HT in monogram, part-marked to lid.

Diameter – 9.4 cm / 3.7 inches

Weight – 142 grams / 4.57 ozt

Registered as a sole proprietor in the Sheffield Assay Office Register, with an address of Barley Hall Street, Heywood, Lancashire.
