A George III Old Sheffield Silver Plate butter dish, Sheffield circa 1780
Of oval form with beaded borders upon four ball and claw feet with twin acanthus upwards scroll handles, the pull off cavetto and domed lid surmounted by an acorn finial. The body with pierced decoration of stylised leafy forms between bands of columns. The lid with embossed leafy terrace. Fitted with a removable blue glass liner. Unmarked.
