A rare pair of George I Irish provincial silver tablespoons, Cork circa 1720 by Caleb Rotheram (d.1746)
Hanoverian pattern, with rat tail heel, virginal erased. Each marked with makers mark CR with a fleur-de-lis above thrice. (2)
Length – 19.7 cm / 7.75 inches
Weight – 131 grams / 4.21 ozt
Jackson records rat tail spoons bearing this mark thrice, as on the present lot, in the collection of a Rev. John Penrose.
