A cased George III silver handled table knife set, London circa 1770 by WP
The filled silver handles in an unusual husk shell and harebell design with ball terminal, each later rebladed with close plate parallel blades by Goldsmith and Silversmiths. Comprising: 27 table knives and 6 side knives. Each later engraved with a crest of a cubit arm erect, the hand grasping an estoile of eight points wavy. Fitted in a late 19th century oak canteen case, branded for Goldsmiths and Silversmiths. The lid with a brass plaque engraved with the same crest. The majority marked with makers marks, some for WA and lion passant.
