Meiji period

Each painted in gilt lacquer with figures in a wild landscape among blossoms and grasses, the first with Ushiwakamaru serenading Princess Joruri with his flute beneath a full moon, the reverse with a pair of mandarin ducks, the second egg decorated with a young woman trying to attract the attention of a small boy leading a tortoise on a leash with a samurai puppet, the reverse with a pair of quails, together with wood stands

each approximately 16cm high (4)
