'My husband was interested in art and in the 1970s, having seen an article by the Daily Telegraph art critic, we visited Abbot and Holder n Hammersmith, where we nought a picture for £5, framed. We then discovered Redfern, the Fine Art Society. Peter Nahum and started buying regularly- only what we liked, never following fashion. Alfred became a patron at Tate - we discovered Carel Weight, Keith Grant, John Tunnard, Josef herman, Augustus John, John Piper, Alfred Wolmark and became regulars at Art Fairs and pre-exhibition reception s where we met knowledgeable critics, artists and writers, some of whom have visited us. A weekend without a gallery visit was almost unheard of, not to mention weekends away from the Tate' (Helen Mignano, Private correspondence, November 2019)
