Peter Jackson, photogravure portrait, large margins, some spotting, some splitting along platemark and tears in margins, repaired verso, one crease / partial tear into image, image 50 x 37cm, Vienna, Cadbury Jones and Fishel, Adler & Schwartz, 1894.

***Originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica, Jackson was born into freedom and later obtained Australian citizenship. Having travelled to San Francisco, on May 12, 1888 he triumphed over "Old Chocolate" Godfrey to secure the World Colored Heavyweight Championship. In 1891, Jackson fought a monumental bout against future world champion, James Corbett, which stretched 61 rounds before being declared a no contest due to both fighters’ exhaustion.
