A CHINESE ‘SILVER DOLLAR’ GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE. Qing Dynasty, 19th Century. With a flattened body carved with a bust to one side and a coat of arms to the reverse, all within a beaded border, 6cm H. Provenance: English private collection. This bottle belongs to a series of 'coin' bottles moulded with the two sides of the Spanish silver dollar which, along with a gold counterpart, were standard international currency in trading during the nineteenth century. Such bottles are usually of rock crystal but are also found in other types of quartz, nephrite, and very rarely, in glass. For a discussion of these coins, see Moss, Graham, Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, the Mary and George Bloch Collection, Volume 2, Part 1, Hong Kong, 1998, pp 154-157, no 238. 清十九世紀  料外國錢幣紋鼻煙壺 來源:英國私人收藏。 *For a full condition report, please contact the department.* *请您联系我们索取品项报告。*
