BUCK TAYLOR, KING OF THE COWBOYS, 1887

Woodburytype cabinet card, image size 140 x 96mm, card size 155 x 106mm, with printed title and copyright notations lower margin. This card has been trimmed along the upper and lower edges, to the upper edge of the image and just below the "King of the Cowboys" caption.

Buck Taylor, a Texas-born cowboy, performed as one of the star attractions in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. In 1887, Taylor joined the Buffalo Bill tour of Europe, where he performed in front of Queen Victoria. It was an impressive undertaking for Buffalo Bill's team of over 200 performers; in addition to their stagecoach, approximately 180 horses, buffalo,and elk were shipped across the Atlantic to perform in the Colorado's contribution to the American Exhibition, held at London's Earl's Court.
