A MEISSEN TEABOWL AND SAUCER, circa 1735, the saucer painted with figures in a European landscape, the teabowl with Kauffahrtei scenes incorporating sailing ships and merchants at work by a quayside, all within elaborate quatrelobe gilt scrollwork cartouches filled with Böttger lustre and embellished with purple scrollwork, with elaborate gilt scrollwork rims, the centre of the teabowl with a further harbour scene within concentric red bands, the saucer 11.9cm diameter, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue and gold numeral 53. to both, Dreher's mark of three circles inside the footrim of the teabowl for Gottfried Seydel, and impressed ** inside the footrim of the saucer for Christain Meynert (2) PROVENANCE: Private German collection.
