Each square-section brush pot painted to the exterior with four panels enclosing scenes from Romance of the Western Chamber bordered by foliate scrolls picked out in gilt, the interiors and bases glazed turquoise, each base with an apocryphal six-character Qianlong mark in underglaze-blue on a white-glazed cartouche,
