A pair of late 20th century Persian (Iranian) silver vases, Isfahan circa 1980 by Seyyed Hassan Jouzdani (b.1928, d.c. 2022)

Pahlavi dynasty / Post-Pahlavi. Each of bulbous form with a everted trumpet neck with octoform upper section, all upon a tapering domed foot with a laurel rim. The trumpet section with chased monabbat-kari decoration of panels of animals and birds above a continuous frieze of long tailed birds among foliage (gol-o bolbol). The bulbous section with chased hunting animals reserved with birds and arabesques. The base with chased rosette bands. Each marked underneath mark جوزدانی standard mark 84 and town mark of Isfahan. Weight – 1444 grams / 46.43 ozt

Born in Isfahan in 1928, Jouzdani began study to work silver at age 14, operating independently since at least the 1970’s. Found on a variety of wares it appears the Jouzdani enterprise also acted as a retailer for other Persian silver including examples of Tabriz type Persepolis wares. A Mahmoud Jouzdani currently operates in Chaharbagh Abbasi Street, Isfahan.
