An early 20th century Burmese unmarked silver mug, Thayetmyo circa 1910
British period, of baluster form upon a short collet foot with a cast and applied handle formed as a Nāga, a dragon like mythical beast. The interior with a removable pull-out liner. The body with finely embossed decoration of Jataka scenes below shaped architraves reserved with ring punched decoration. Probably from the Sama Jataka, depicting Dukulaka and Parika leaving the Bodhisattva Sama in the care of a kinnaris. The base section with a band of embossed and chased stylised betel leaves, the upper section with a flat chased band of acanthus scrolls. The underside with a chased rosette.
