A SHERATON STYLE SATINWOOD CABINET, LATE 18TH CENTURY

A SHERATON STYLE SATINWOOD CABINET, LATE 18TH CENTURY, on four tapering green and gold legs with reeding. The top section has a cabinet with an arched top decorated with a repeat design of flowerheads above a section with floral friezes flanking an urn. Cabinet has hinged, glazed doors with gothic-style tracery. Bottom section below consists of a cabinet with three small drawers with a gold border, painted floral design and circular gold handles. The drawers are above a cabinet with a hinged door covered with dummy leather book spines.

179cm high x 62cm wide x 30.5cm deep

Provenance: From a collection of furniture and antiques left to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB ) in 1939 by Evelyn Stannus of Kensington. Items in the collection are believed to have come from Ireland. Since 1939 many objects from the collection have been on loan to the National Trust and this item has been displayed at Lyme Park.
