A cased mid-19th century Indian Colonial silver travelling dessert set, Calcutta circa 1840 by Pittar and Co (active 1825-48)
Comprising a dessert spoon in Queen’s pattern, double struck with union shell heel, and a fruit knife and fork with filled handles decorated with fruiting vine and splayed shells, the blades and tines of silver. Housed in a tooled leather fitted case with velvet and silk lining. Each marked with incuse makers mark, pseudo lion passant and capital A as well as journeyman’s mark to the spoon.
